For some of the books we lay out we also create the covers. The original image of the microscope supplied by the author was not of adequate quality, so we re-drew it using Adobe Illustrator. Overall cover composition was with both Adobe Photoshop and inDesign.
The book's contents were a relative tour de force, in part, due to the fact that the author had collected the book's hundreds of illustrations over a period of twenty years from various sources. Though many were in digital form, the bad news was that they were of inadequate resolution for offset print reproduction. We used Lizardtech's Genuine Fractals Print Pro to synthesize the resolution we needed, and to effectively salvage these irreplaceable images.
